Starter
Whack a starter on yours, put some plus-gas down the (empty) spark plug holes, get a mate to hold onto it, jump leads and give it a wind to check the CR. It's exactly what the local garage did to my spare engine when my daughter melted my B234F.

Using a compression tester on an engine won't tell you the static compression ratio, only that the engine is dynamically able to compress air without leakage. The static compression ratio has to be very carefully calculated from the relative volumes of the cylinder and the combustion chamber.
I've measured an actual 760 B230ET engine to have a compression ratio of 9:1. |

My B234F engine was closer to spec than that.
