Hello everyone, as promised here is a link to the VHD for the Vida 2014D. Please note you will need Hyper-V enabled on your windows PC. I believe Hyper-V is available on Windows 10 Pro edition. You just need to enable it from Windows features. Create a new Virtual Machine from Hyper-V and point to this VHD as the virtual hardrive after you have downloaded it. Password for OS is Volvo, login for Vida is 1. Can someone with high bandwidth download it and let me know if it works for you. I will try my best to help if anyone has any questions.

Took my 2015 D4 V70 to Taunton today. Took less than 35 minutes for a software update and cleaning of 'some sensors'. Should they have done more?

No, not unless they found a particular diagnostic trouble code

They are my local Volvo dealer and have serviced mine from new and I have found them very thorough. Part of a very large Cornish Truro based vehicle group but even as a Devonian I don't hold that against them!

I took my 2014 D4 XC60 into Volvo today, with the check engine light on and P04D9 fault codes up.
They diagnosed it as the EGR cooler blockage (no surprise after reading this thread) and changed it free of charge, along with the most recent recall work. They did, however, quote me near £600 to change the EGR valve while they were at it... I've had to stick with the old one for now. |

Our 2014 V60 D4 today went in for a recall, they cleaned the Emap and Tmap pipes(?) and did a software update.
They then tell us it has some fault codes stored and needs a replacement inlet manifold and new EGR cooler, the inlet manifold will be covered by Volvo and they are seeking goodwill for the cooler. The interesting thing here is that last August we had a new inlet manifold fitted, one of the redesigned ones!! They are ringing us Monday when they’ve spoken to Volvo so I’ll keep you all updated on the outcome. Cheers, Luke |

A year later (almost to the day) since I last experienced this, and I have just taken my XC60 into the local dealer to investigate the EML warning light.
Dealer just called... "the EGR cooler is blocked" and they are contacting Volvo UK for a goodwill gesture. I hope it's 100%! In my March 2019 post on this topic, I mentioned the dealer had told me about the latest design being teflon coated, but barely 6000 miles later it has gone again. When I get the car back, I think it's time to sell up. |

A quick update on our V60, the dealer called today to arrange a new inlet manifold and EGR cooler, Volvo are covering it all as recall and goodwill.
Our car is a 64 reg D4 with 53,000 miles. It had its first three services at Volvo and when we bought it it had just had its fourth at the independent dealer we bought it from so we took it to our local dealer for an oil and filter change and then had it serviced there last year so it’s got a pretty much full dealer history, the dealer said were more likely to get goodwill if it has. It’s going in on Thursday for the work even though the dealership will be closed, apparently because it’s a safety issue they won’t leave it for three weeks. They don’t have any hire cars but I suppose we can’t really moan considering all that is happening in the world right now. I know these VEA engines have got quite a bad name because of these issues but I have been impressed with Volvo and the dealership. I’m not sure how old these cars will be before Volvo stop contributing goodwill but for now I’m happy. I won’t be there when the car goes in but I’ll try and find out what the issue is with this redesigned inlet manifold that was fitted last year. Cheers, Luke. |
