164E ignition
A contact has erratic ignition, it only firing on half of the injectors. A replacement 'brain' was fitted but no change. He now thinks the triggering points at the lower end of the distributor, but I wouldn't have thought the car would only fire on three if the problem was them.
Another suggestion was a relay on the inner wing under the bonnet, but what it needs is an expert to advise: I am not one. Can anybody who knows please respond, as the car is currently immobile. The loan of a complete functioning distributor would eliminate that entire unit if there is one in South Wales! This problem-car's owner will be eternally grateful. P |

Have a read of this thread. It is for B20E so 4 cylinders instead of 6 but the fault might be the same. Rubbing block wear.
https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...int-adjustment If the B20E fires in pairs the B30E may fire in threes. The B20 dizzy has 2 sets of points against the B30 having to have three sets of points if the B30 had to fire in pairs. I've not looked at the parts book but I think they both have 2 sets of points. You'll have to check. |

As a former bosch fuel injection technican (a lifetime ago in the mid 80's k-jetronic was my favourite)
I know how a little knowlage can totally screw up your injection system by mis diagnosis and improper adjustment. https://oldtimer.tips/en/d-jetronic/59-triggercontacts Read about the injectior trigger contacts operation in the link above I recomend the Dr-Djet bloke hes got great infomation |

I have also been in touch with Martin who owns the 164e.
I think Martin said he has no signal to three of his injectors. (As such it's a fueling issue rather than ignition). I am certainly no expert on d-jet, but from reading the above links posted above, it seems that wear in the fuel injection points inside the distributor normally causes over-fuelling - due to the injectors staying open too long. I.e. the opposite of Martin's symptoms. I don't rule out some other fault inside the distributor, and it's certainly worth trying a good one. Another possibility is a break in the wiring to injectors. I have suggested Martin checks continuity. Any other suggestions welcome |
