DAY ONE
A little back ground on project pasty.
A tired and well used xc70 with 157k diff issue and knocking from other places.
It was up for sale but no o e wanted to touch it as the condition was shocking....Well I did I wanted to see if it was worth what I got it for,so I bought a car in the dark(farm yard pitch black) no mot.yes I know 2 major rules never be broke, but the last volvo I got a v70awd I did the same there too and that was a great car.
Anyway back to the pasty, handbrake was not even working so off with the rear wheels to see anything old through the wheel bolt holes...everything was brand new..bonus just adjustment and sorted now door card passenger cable came off the handle...easy fix off with door card and clip it back on the door carefully.so here's where we are so far tommorow mot and clean it out
So here's a few of it before I collected it

Here's where it now starts with a quick jet wash.then the service book has every stamp up till 2019 from Marshall Volvo Welwyn Garden City.
It's had a genuine gearbox and angle gear in 2019.in 2019 mileage was 127k come forward to 2024 and it's only on 157k now.it had a service done in November so will do another one this week.then it's on to paint renovation on the cheap, adding some mods and seeing what the xc70 is all about.hope you enjoy the thread as the pasty grows from a total loss of a car which I got for less than scrap value into a car that it should be, will be documenting it all here and what iam learning on the way may help others.

Nice. Good luck with it. There's nothing more satisfying than saving a scrapper and turning it back to what it should be.

Our 2001 V70 T5 was bought as a Spares/Repair car 5 years ago. It's still my wife's daily driver.

Thank you for the comments so far.
Not used it this weekas beenbusy at work, but took it out and found have rather bad wheel vibration from around 40mph upwards on the righthand side. This happens when at speed coasting but not when i touch the brake pedal. It stops totally nothing there even through the brake.
When say touch the brake.i mean when just apply pressure.now at a guess i take it that the right disc and pads are shot, the pads don't look good.so up next are front discs and pads caliper looks new so that might be ok.

So today I had the dreaded interior door handle issue, yup you know what it's like go to open the passenger door and pop off comes the handle from the cable. Well after the 1st test didn't work, the clip is fractured so out with the epoxy resin and and little bit of plastic to keep it strong. Thought that would be ok. But to make it really strong a bent a brake pad shim and also bonded that to it . clipped all back on the car and will test it tomorrow once set.
What I did notice is with the door card unplugged the interior lights have a mind of their own as do the footwell lights. So if you do end up having issues be aware the foot well lights stay on all the time when the doorcard is removed.ohh and you get a red triangle on dash followed by message door open.
Also I have been testing different things to get the plastic back to a nice colour and not the sun bleached grey, so far vasiline has held up for a week now. Pics to follow once rain has stopped down here in Cornwall.

+1 for owatrol

Not cheap but it does really work and lasts a long time.
