I'd love to see that car up close,it looks immaculate but surely a GLT of that age should have the vinyl strips on the bootlid? I reckon she's had a respray.

I paid £1200 for a mint 83 GLS last year with 18,000 miles on the clock. I thought it was a fair price for any car in such origional condition and low miles. But I wasn't prepared to pay any more as I didn't intend to have such a car ungaraged or used on a daily basis and to tie up anymore money in a car used so little wasn't an option.
Lets face it, there isn't enough demand for theses cars, even in A1 condition to justify approaching Triumph stag money. You have to remember that most of the people with an interest in these cars have seen it for sale for months already and we've not bought it yet! However, whatever someone is prepared to pay for a car is it's value (to them anyway). What you've got to consider is trying to get your money back IF you don't want to keep the car forever. If the GLT is as good as it sounds then personally I would not want to pay much more than I did for the GLS, (It is bit quicker and it is red!!) I'd say around £1300 if I was looking for one. The car in question for sale was sold a few months ago on ebay for considerably less that it's current asking price. If I hadn't already bought the GLS at that time I would have bid on it myself or been interested in it now, but not at or near £3000 I have every respect for the fact that the person selling it is running a business, but they have to remember that to us 300 fans, looking like you've spent a fortune on a car is really our thing!! Hope this helps! |

Thanks, Hell Driver.
Your buy sounds like exactly the king of thing I'm waiting for. I'd prefer a GLS to a GLT. Everything you say makes sense, and yes, I'd want to tie up no more than £1500 quid in a hobby car. There was an ideal one on eBay (non-auction though) which I think must have got sold this weekend (drat). It was up for £1450 so I guess he was being more realistic than the bloke with this red one. Perhaps he'll realise he's taken a bath on it soon and list it for more realistic price to get shot. |

Yes, that's the one! I'll drop him a line. Thanks.
I'd deleted it from my watch list and couldn't find it again! |
