Always fit Volvo pads. No reason not to if you ask the parts dept for a discount.

Genuine Volvo pads (and discs) every time. There isn’t a better quality option, I buy genuine brake parts even for my wife’s V50 after poor experience with Mintex and a few others. Especially more important in the heavier models.

Look on eBay. Find lowest price for genuine. Then go to parts dept as they price match

I prefer the minted pads. Better feel. Definitely no rattle with paggid or mintex. Bren is we’re ok. The worst. Genuine pads.

For pads I always prefer ATE (who make a lot of Volvo OEM stuff). I tend to use pagid discs. However just got a new V40 D3 with fantastic brakes so I suspect it will be 2020 before I next have my brake tools out!

I fitted Mintex (well the garage did ha!) pads to my V40 D3 and after what will probably be a couple thousand miles, i’ve not had any problems.
