So I got a can of 134a with a gauge and went to plug it to the low pressure port. With the engine and a/8c running, when the clutch is engaged I read 35psi, when the clutch is off I read 55psi. The air is cold but not chilling cold. Anyone knows what is the problem?

small prints: evaporator sensor is fine, the clutch is cycling fine, the gap is fine

Some say you should be adding it with the engine running at 1200rpm or "you won't get enough in". But it's not unusual for them not working properly for some reason. Mine for example will sometimes get warm on idle and the temperature and air flow will fluctuate when driving. Took it to a few garages, everything seems to be fine (compressor, pressures, fan) and nobody can figure out what the problem might be.

The pressures are pretty meaningless as R143 expands so much with temperature - and as the temp changes so much around the system, and from the ambient, it will be all over the place.
The CORRECT way to charge the system, is by weight of refrigerant added, after first pulling a vacuum to purge any moisture from the system and check for leaks.

With the top-up cans, you'll never know how much is in the system to add the correct weight.
Without the right gear, this is an impossible job.

Take it to a garage with AC equipment who will pump out the existing refrigerant, weigh it, and do as mentioned above.
Last time I had this done it cost about £50.

Worth noting that I had our Volvo C30 aircon emptied, cleaned and refilled by a reputable garage for the price of £60 using the big expensive machine.

Whilst the garage was doing that, I went back home and topped up the aircon with a halfords DIY kit on my Volvo S60.

Comparing the two, the AC is definitely colder on the S60, and I learnt a bit about how the AC works in the process.

Hi in vida in the ecm setting you can see the aircon pressure , you need to fill it to the pressure using a pressure to temperature chart, read the pressure without the aircon on,
