Default V90 equaliser settings

Do we have any recommended settings for the standard audio system in the 2018 V90?

Thanks.

The only person that can adjust your audio system is you depending on what you hear. It depends on age affecting the state of your hearing, music sources etc. and what you expect to hear. Start from level and make small adjustments is a good way to go.

That’s true for me. I have a frequency deficiency which means I can’t hear the Circadas in the south of France, which apparently are quite loud, so I get my kids to set mine up.

It’s also why the B&W system would be wasted on me.

Yeah, that was my post on pistonheads. You could also try the option in the photo above, although it does seem to have a very bright bias. Bright being high treble. That guy has boosted treble twice, once using the treble slider and then additional treble via the equalizer (his high frequencies are boosted)

This can give an initial appearance of more detailed sound but after a while, it can actually introduce listening fatigue and then the sound starts to become unpleasant to listen to. Especially if you're listening at a higher volume.

There is a big mid range drop that probably can't be corrected without changing the speakers but overall, it's a fairly good sound system and it can comfortably match the bass output of a high quality pair of stand mount hifi speakers. It easily beats my Bmw upgraded sound system, that's for sure.

Well mastered tracks on the Spotify app with extreme quality streaming selected sound very nice indeed. Tracks with an emphasis on vocals sound particularly good and my Spotify playlists for the car are based around content that the system does a good job with. It will struggle more with tracks with a lot going on, like the Beatles I am the Walrus type songs, the system isn't good enough to separate all the nuanced detail.

The white noise floor is excellent, an inky black silence on well mastered tracks which really elevates the content and overall listening experience. A perfect example is the song how far I'll go from the Moana movie soundtrack. Typically high quality Disney master for Cinemas and converts well to the 320kbps Spotify stream. Trying various content like this helps you get a feel for what strengths the system has, and you then modify your playlists to suit.

Do you have a clearer photo of your equaliser setting SoupD as I can’t make out the exact levels you have illustrated?

I love my hi-if at home...I played with the equaliser on the S90 for a week and in the end, decided not to use it.

The sound appears purer when the equaliser isn't used...

It's a matter of personal preference when it comes to music of course
