Default Rear spring broken - Volvo V70 2002

Looks like it has been broken for some time - near the base.

Trying to work out whether I should do it myself but it looks like I need a special spring compression tool.

Anyone done it?

I have (to fit uprated MAD springs), and yes, you'll need a spring compressor.

Not sure but it may look like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/S-CSC-INNER...0AAOSwuTxV9SXi

However careful what you replace it with. I'd rather get two used genuine ones from the same car, you may experience height issues. These rarely break on the V70 (but quite often on the XC70)

Thanks but the reviews for that compression tool seem to indicate that it will not do the job.

It looks like this is going to be difficult...

I have never ever used a spring compressor to fit the rear springs. You just need to either use a jack to raise the bottom arm or blocks and lower the car down to it

I'm with Classic Swede, I've changed 4 rear springs by removing the shocks, pulling out the bolt at the end of the lower arm and pulling the spring out. With a bit of juggling and a trolley jack under the arm the springs go straight back in.

It cannot be done without compressing the rear spring. Period.
