Default Your old skanky Laptop running DICE/VIDA

Need DICE/VIDA.

No particular hurry. Any Laptop that's a bit slow, and/or skanky won't worry me. Any USB Laptop with a fresh install of Win running well enough for DICE/VIDA will do. It'll stay in the cupboard for the duration; something too decent would be pointless - it won't get used. I'll want the 'dongle' interface etc, and the installer discs. Chinese version fine. Not ever used DICE/VIDA. A quicky 10-15min 'driving-lesson' with DICE/VIDA please; in return, I'll show you how I got to you at 120 miles away (and back) for under a tenner.

Want this for my toolbox, solely for DICE/VIDA. No other reason. No rush.

I'm in Bucks, but anywhere in 120ish miles of LU6 is fine. Or meet somewhere in between.

Cheshired5 had a T400 for sale a week or so ago. The T series is a good and tough laptop and would have no problem running VIDA.

The laptop I can get tomorrow. However, if loaded, and running, with all the 'gubbins' sounds like that'll be the kiddy for me.

That's sold now but I do have a Dell Latitude E6410.
An equally good laptop running Windows 7 Professional and a fresh install of Vida 2014d.

Also a HP 630 widescreen laptop once again with 7 Professional and a smooth running Vida 2014d.

They're both £145 each delivered to mainland UK.
HP on the left Dell on the right.

I'm assuming this comes ready to go, all in, nothing else to do, install or buy, I'll PM you.

I know that PC Laptops sell for 60-70% of Macs new, yet I am left quite smug. I've been told for years I must run a PC. My 9 year old Mac still costs £500-550 to replace on eBay. Whereas a nine year old PC laptop should be worth £350-400. They're not.

Under £100.

Pm replied but in summary, if you want to read a car, you will also need the Dice plugin which I sell for an extra £100 so £245 total.

Perhaps I failed to make myself clear. I don't need a Laptop here, can get one of those tomorrow.

Please:

I'm after the complete kit for VIDA, not various parts of it. Of course this will include any skanky laptop, this able to run the kit you include. No rush.

Perhaps read what you've written back to yourself because I'm not sure what you mean.

Clearly you are best qualified to say what IS required. Your laptops are looking better than the minimum to do the job. Widescreen I'm sure I don't need. I only need the minimum. For a mac user, it'll get used no more than I use my code reader now.

You may be aware of this thread:

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=263883

Rather than answer solely to me, can we collectilvely ask you to detail the minimum spec Laptop you would need to run VIDA/DICE, if that was all you where ever going to do with it. I'm assuming a 12" poverty-spec slug of a thing would work?

I see a T400 on eBay sells for £65-70 tops. And the Chinese sell Vida for £50 with dongle box gizmo and discs on eBay. Will this combo do? If not please point out what we do need, if all we wanting is a upscale code-reader, that will spend its life in a cupboard. I know Win Pro is required. What is the min laptop that will run it and VIDA/DICE. What versions of this and that etc etc. What not to buy, and why.

I know not: Stick you answer on here:

I only supply Vida 2014d and haven't seen any correctly specced T400s for that price.

No they don't.

I supply to a particular buyer looking for a particular level of certainty i.e. 100% certainty and that comes at a particular price detailed earlier in the thread.

You sound like you want to go it alone and find the cheapest solution which comes with a certain level of risk.
I'm not going to walk you through the many variables that negate that risk or all the different laptop specs required for the different versions of Vida. That's your job.
