Default Fuel filler

Got an 05 S80 2.5T and when I put fuel in I get fuel dripping on to the floor.
It doesnt last long but obviously its dangerous and the price of super unleaded.
Got under the car and all looks well but there seem to br a lot of pipes coming down the side of the filler so didn't want to disturb anything by pulling too hard.
Any ideas please?

rubber elbow from tank filler tube to tank

pain in the arse job to be honest but you can save money ordering the parts yourself at least, really it needs to be up on a lift, subframe bolts partly removed, someone hanging on subframe while someone squeezes their arm though to get at it

not an on the driveway job at all, trust me I tried, even with the spring out of the way (which is a ballache in itself) you'd need the hands of a baby to get in there

Just had this job done while I was on holiday in Scotland and started noticing fumes and a damp tank.

Went to Ron Sealey Volvo specialist in Fife where it was done without dropping the subframe or the tank.

I didn't watch the whole job but I was shown two gaps roughly below the hose which you can apparently manoeuvre the hose through. There's no space for Oetiker-type pliers to get in and secure it, so screw-type hose clamps were used instead.

It is possible to change this hose - on a lift at least - without removing anything else.

Well that's handy to know but having been under there and tried myself I can only say they must have had very small hands or some ingenuity with a long tool or something because I couldn't get anywhere near it and nor could the garage i used

You can get the hose in to the gap easy enough (I tried wrapping some inner tube around it as a stop gap) but having enough hand in there to grab and twist for removal and fitting was just seemingly impossible to me at least

Still it cost me £140 labour I think? Something like that so it wasn't exactly a bank breaker either way

It sounds like you haven't fully ascertained the location of your leak.
Do you have any codes?

I recommend this easy and simple "expanded search": Drill out the pop rivets which secure the fender liner to the car's body. With it removed you can reach the filler end of the plumbing easily. It's what you'd do to replace the plastic filler neck.

Obviously one needs a pop rivet tool and 7 larger size rivets to restore the liner.

FYI: I placed a foot long scrap of garden hose on my filler neck's air intake (yes, you'll see it) and blew into it to locate an EVAP leak in my '02's "J-Hose".
The hiss revealed its location. That was one satisfying diagnostic exercise.

I could reach the J-Hose (aside the charcoal canister) by loosening the strap hardware which holds the canister. I used rubber bands on deep sockets to tighten my hose clamps.
