Question Oil leaking from EGR Valve (2001 Volvo V40 1.9D)

Hi,

Second post, second problem. Recently noticed oil spots on my drive, had a look under the hood and it seems as though oil is leaking from around the region of the EGR valve. I'm not particularly handy when it comes to cars so I've asked a few friends and they seem to be of the opinion that for oil to be in that region that the turbo is on its way out. I disconnected the large pipe running from the EGR that the MAP sensor is mounted on and there is oil within the pipe.

Is the turbo done for? Or is this something else entirely.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Most probably the seal on the cut-off valve (the one that looks like a throttle body)

See Bafflers excellent guide here: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=114946

Thanks for the advice, just trying to source an O-Ring for it now, bit of a pain in the arse as the usual suspects don't seem to stock it any more.

Followed a couple of leads and landed on the Renault OEM code: 7701059142 and it appears that this site has it in stock if any one else needs this in the future: https://www.motor-doctor.co.uk/produ...-throttle-body

Also, is it normal for what seems like a significant amount of oil to be accumulating like this in the throttle body?

It's not actually oil. It's diesel exhaust fumes, that become oil. Very common in these engines and nothing to worry about

Thumbs up

UPDATE: Just got round to replacing the gasket, took quite a while to get here as it was shipped from Germany, but aside from that it was a perfect fit and definitely needed doing as it looked identical to the wear shown in Baffler's guide. Hope this sorts the blowby leak issue! Thanks again Gatos for pointing me in the right direction!
