Default New Hooters ....

I was having a little skirmish underneath the car pre-MOT on Wednesday and to my horror found that the twin hooters under the front bumper were looking exceptionally sorry for themselves. They are separately rated 335 and 420Hz each.

Quite frankly I don't know how they are still working or not blowing their fuse as one has disintegrated to the extent that the diaphragm has gone and it's left with the coil windings open to the elements!!

Has anybody got any recommendations that would be a straight swap. Volvo can supply but, at a cost of £34 each.

Thanks, Bob

I had to cut the cables and crimp on new fittings but that was fairly easy

Can't beat a good pair of hooters Bob!

Couple more choices there as well.

Thanks Dave - as said above I have ordered the pair recommended by griston64 above. They look OK and, whatever I got I would have to rewire the old Volvo loom plugs to the hooters.

They are now dispatched and should be with me by Friday !!???. In case it rains tomorrow I have put a plastic bag over the one that has disintegrated as currently something down there is still hooting when I hit the horn!!

They seem pretty good and are still tooting nicely

I bought the little spade fittings from Halfords

Cheers Mark

Missed that post Bob! If memory serves, the OE connectors are femal spades inside a shrouded plug so no need to mutilate the wiring then fit new connectors unless you're unlucky.

Which Friday though? Lately ebays estimates of arrival have been atrocious!

I had to cut mine off Dave as the old spades were rust welded onto the old knackered hooters

Just thought it was a nice clean job going with new connectors

Being super sad I removed the old bracket, rubbed it down and painted with por15
