It does depend where in Mancs you are, but I would go Stockport, Macclesfield, Leek, Ashbourne, down the A515 to Sudbury then along the A50. Not neccesarily the quickest route but Mac to Sudbury is fun.

Looking at auto route I will go either .....

Woodhead Pass to M1 @ Sheffield then south to M1 Jct 24a and westr along a50

OR

dave-t's suggested route, M6 jct 16, then est A500/A50

I fancy the woodhead, nice bit of road to try out the handling oif the car.

I live east Mcr (Tameside to be exact, at the foothills of the pennines)
and I usually travel the Woodhead or Snake Passes to get to the East Midlands. I'll see how I feel on the day .... been a good few years since I did the Buxton route!

Definately not going to be able to make this one, too much work on for the next few weekends, but I'll be at the BKV. Hope this one is as good as the last.

The scenic route is good and will test the handling rather than the speed. If you do the M6 route then stay on until J15 then join the A500. From Crewe I do A500 M6 J16 to J15 A500 A50. That way you miss out a big chunk of Stoke and save about 15 minutes in the process.

The A50 is a great road if you want to test the acceleration and top speed (of 70mph ish of course)

I shall try and get to the boat stop. Worked it out at 110 miles away, so 'do-able'

Wont be able to confirm 'til that morning basically!

If im there, I'll be in the E-Reg Silver 740 Estate with the Silver sunstrip...

Anyone else headed up from East Anglia way?

I will try and get down as well, as long as you have room for another D5, certainly looking forward to seeing your car Pedro!
