Default Heated seats

I am fairly sure when we had our series 3 V70 in April the heated seats worked. Now they don't. I have checked the fuses, both buttons light up in sequence, and Diagnostic software allows me to highlight the heated seat setting.
Is there some clever setting whereby they don't come on unless the outside temperature is at a certain point? Why do diagnostics not let me turn them on remotely?

All ideas welcomed.

Not aware of any link to the external temperature. Mine were working fine this morning at 8 degrees C. Which fuse number have you checked?

1 & 2 under the driver footwell. Both heated seats are not working which rather suggests a system fault rather than a fuse.

The only thing that's related to external temperature is that in some models, you can have the driver's side seat heating turn on automatically if it's below 8°C. But manually you can turn them on in the middle of the summer.

Thank you for your replies. Unexpectedly I think I sorted it tonight. I plugged in Vida and performed a CCM calibration which seemed to clear the fault.

Here's hoping for a toasty warm backside tomorrow.

The little control unit under the seat knows the ambient temperature , It hasn't been single figures ambient temperature yet this year ... They worked last winter - yes ?

In cars with network communication systems (read: all modern cars), every controller can know everything, if the designer wants it to.

But in this particular case that's not the issue, as you can manually turn on the seat heating regardless of the outdoors temperature.
They are thermostat controlled, so if it's +30°C inside the car, they may not heat. But the indicator light will go on.
