Default S40 08 1.6 battery help

Hi, I need to replace the battery in my 08 s40 1.6 petrol, it currently has part number 30745771 60ah 590a cc battery, all the online sites suggest batteries that are around 242mm in length when I input my reg number but the 1 fitted seems to be 278mm when I measured it.

Does any have any recommendations on a battery and will a higher spec ah/cca battery cause any problems.

Thanks!

Your owner's manual will tell you the exact CCA required.
Going higher CCA on a well maintained car gives you no benefit other than costing more and going higher Ah gives no benefit unless you regularly sit consuming power with the engine off.
Even then, the gains are marginal at best.

Main dealers are surprisingly competitive on price and guaranteed to be correct.

Hey Strumble, what did you do then? I'm exactly in the same situation: All websites are suggesting the 24cm battery, while on mine I have a 27cm one. I'll try to install the 24cm tomorrow, but I'm afraid I'll have to send it back to the shop..

Its not that important as for lenght/width - as long as it fits in the tray and Ah is similar to yours - you will be ok. The important thing is actually terminal position (+ and - on correct sides) and height of battery. I was fitting battery with exact same Ah specs as OEM volvo that was in the car from new (on my colleague's 1.8 2008 S40) but the one I got was 3cm too high and the protecting bar that goes over it and you screw it to hold the battery, wouldnt fit anymore.
