Default Xc70 AWD check

Just a quick question, on checking the AWD system.
Am I right in saying that I need to get under the car all wheels in contact with the ground, autobox in park mode. Then I shouldnt be able to turn the rear prop shaft. Thank in advance. This should be in the other forum as car a 2006 model.

That is certainly the check to see that the spline shaft is still serviceable. You should not be able to revolve the propshaft however if all is well there will still be a little movement but nothing excessive.

That said, that test will not confirm that the AWD is working only that the spline is still serviceable. The spline could be fine but there could still be a problem with the Haldex assembly ie :- pump, DEM or pressure sensor all of which if faulty would render the AWD inoperative..

To check the AWD get onto a loose surface and accelerate hard from standstill. All wheels should grip.
