Default XC90 T8 remote pre condition and remote start

Morning,

I having problems with my remote precondition and remote start on my 2017 XC90.

When I go into the app its states that the car is in standby mode. I drive it everyday so that cannot be right, standby should active after 14 days not immediately.

Two things.

1. Can anyone with a T8 please try and remote pre conditon or remote start and just post on here whether it works or not, that will help techs find out if it is a issue with my car or volvo server.

2. Second does anyone know how to do a complete battery disconnect reset on the T8

Ta muchly

I have tried.(2018 xc90T8)
answer was:
''remote start impossible car is plugged''
I have tried again after un plugging the car:
no problem, both preconditioning and remote start worked.

sorry but I haven't the foggiest idea how disconnect the battery.

My remote start hasn't worked since new in June (MY18 XC90 Inscr.Pro.); my original post here has details. Since then it's been in twice to local dealer but no fix yet. Last time a week or so ago had Volvo UK and 'Factory' techs involved. At least they recognise the issue which they say is software related and probably affects 'all MY18 T8s' - er, clearly not! Next step is for another appointment when a 'travelling UK Tech. will visit and download the data' and look further. I've only ever had the same error message "A technical error occurred..(etc)......". All other VOC app functions seem to work.

On my VOC app (android, current version) there's a diagnostic car check which is found under 'car' tab and then the settings (like a gear icon) followed by 'Run Diagnostics' and then 'Start Diagnostics'. On mine it returns a list of 'passed' tests but a 'No' to the Heater line. I've pointed this out to the techs. and they confirm there is a functioning aux. heater fitted, so maybe the 'No' isn't 'not fitted' but 'not currently running'.

Apart from all that, it's with Volvo to fix. They have said it might just 'start working', i.e. an Over The Air software update but we'll see!

Cheers, Andy

Thankyou very much for all your input.

So it seems that this is right. I have had my car back to the garage and they have swapped the communications module and all software is upto date.

I get a message saying car is in 'standby' i.e. it has not been driven for 14 days when it has only just been parked up.

I am thinking that it is more the server side than the car side.

If it's server side you'd expect that many more people might be affected? The fact that the car's modem is going into standby mode almost immediately suggests it's something to do with the car itself. When I had comms problems it took weeks for them to diagnose that the replacement comms module was itself faulty.

Btw, the car's modem should go into standby mode after 4 days (far too short a time in my opinion). From day 5 to day 28 it checks once an hour for any outstanding commands. After day 28 it is completely switched off.
