She's had a busy few weeks what with skeggy and back with the old 5 berth abbey hooked on behind, had 8 days there and got back last thursday, then home for 2 days and off to kings lynn and back last saturday with the caravan, then did birmingham and back for a rave last night, no caravan that time though, and then off to mildenhall and back next weekend with the caravan again, plus a final towing outing of the year in a few weeks, its done more towing these last few weeks than it ever has since ive owned it, and its not missed a beat, progress is not exactly sprightly, 0 to 30 takes 11 seconds, to 40 takes around 20, and to 50 was 30ish, i stopped counting after that, it manages though, and so i treated her to a wash and a splash of oil, engine took about 0.2 litres, gearbox nearly half a litre, i must get that leak sorted, that or some magic moly based product that sorts leaks out, she looks a lot happier after a little clean up in any case.

I had to get towed out by a 4X4 and miraculously there was no damage and the old girl still runs perfectly, boosting me home at full power.
Hahahahaha

Cool

Mine Gott Clarkies 1984 V40 looks like a cross between an Easy Jet fan's car and a Panzer tank. The Grey wheels look so good that no one will steal them!

Default Hows this for value for money

Hi All..

The old girl is just under 14 Years old and she's still looking good!
anyhow - came to her the other night to take my lad and his other half home and found that the battery had given up (the same battery that has been in since the day she was made) how's that for age and value for money? called the RAC (at the time I didn't know if it was the battery or even the starter motor)

cut a long story short - after waiting over two hrs and another 10min for him to do his checks he give me a price on a new battery... £155 plus vat! So dick turpin is alive and well and running around in a orange van, he seems to have changed his name by deed poll to Colin RAC - I told him that I would shop around but thanks. his face dropped like a brick and told me that I wont get the 5 year guarantee. It was only a few days later when I was talking with a lad that worked for the RAC, and he told me that if they sell anything over £100, upto 15% will be given to them as a sales commission. anyway the next day phoned my local garage and got one for £65 inc fitting and since the young lad came around to fit it in less the 20min I added a extra £5 so £70 and the old girl starts first time again - now that's value for money.

Default Bad day for the old girl

Hi everyone it’s been a while since I was last on here I hope there’s still a few of the regulars still here if not hello everybody else

So I took the T4 out of its storage today it’s been sat wasting away for the best part of 2 years so I sent it for an mot and unfortunately it’s bad news it needs a fair bit of work and I just don’t have the space or time to sort it out so I think it will be going up for sale for someone to fix up or break

I’ll pick up the failure sheet in the morning and post the full list

My battery gave up at 14 years old too.
Got a lifetime warranted battery from Halfords and it's all good.

Sorry to hear that, Gaz.
Hope it finds a good home and isn't broken up.
Too many T4's get broken these days. ☹

Replaced the knackered aerial (that I knackered in anger) and fitted some leds to the lights console (do the rest tomorrow along with fitting the new ABS ring)

Cool

Did a routine check, topped up the oil with 1/2 liter of LM 10w30 that I found in the garage. Added one teacup of coolant and filled up the washer bottle with several liters of minus 30c supermarket blue.

Checked the tyres (All were OK) and overinflated them from 2.5 to 3 bars to allow for several months of natural loss and cold weather. Only enough tread left for this winter, so they will get binned next spring.

Replaced one rear sidelight R5W bulb, but the forking new one was already kaput, so bought 2 new Osrams. The round version of the R5W does not seem to fit as well as the OEM Osram flat sided job.

Removed mud and rubbish from the footwells and seats, but alas no time to wash the old dear, as I'm bound for Blighty again.
