nice car but what's the long thing in the 4th picture - could it be an inline fuel filter??? just back from the radiator

It is a Broquet a filter containing pellets to change unleaded fuel into leaded fuel popular when unleaded fuel was introduced.

Those add on things have been proven by a leading motoring organisation to be totally bogus and has no effect just like the pellets in a wire cage you can drop in the fuel tank .....pure BS

Yes - but it stopped my Amazon Estate from pinking under load. How conclusive are the results on a high-mileage car?

They were tested and found not to work.

Lucky for the 140 there is no need for anything like this so will not find out teh hard way.
