that should read rev limiting not red limiting - autocorrect for you
Mine is no better than Volvo other than having to deal with some poor chap who does not know what a 240 is let alone the parts variations accross the models |

Eh?
Bought one for my Torslanda from the local motor factors. Works fine. This car has electronic fuel injection and no rev-limiting rotor arm. The earlier mechanical injection cars will usually run better on a 120/130/140 B20 type rotor arm. You lose the rev-limiter but there's a dial on the dash for that.

Sorry for the delay - been away with work. Yes, the first rotor I got was from a dealer, the second from a different dealer. When I spoke to them on the phone they said they had two listed, one in stock, one listed as a classic part that needed to come from Sweden. The one I received looked identical to the one I had, had the same part number, but didn't work. Then I noticed the '1.5' and '2.5' on the rotor and wondered if there was an internal resistor?
I have just ordered replacement arm and cap from Classic Swede - fingers crossed

Just a follow up to make sure the rotor has worked for you.

Hi Classicswede,
I seem to be cursed at the moment. Courier just dropped it off today and it's still the wrong type. Too thin to fit the distributor drive and different shape from the original. I have comparison images below. Original is on the right...

Original on the right.

You have tried rotor arms from some various suppliers including dealer(s) and they have not worked. The latest one from Classic Swede is too thin to fit the distributor drive.
This is just an idea based on eliminating possibilities. Has someone at some stage managed to fit a non-standard non-original specification distributor, possibly and cap, to your car? And have you changed the distributor arm before? If so did you have any trouble getting one that worked that time? |

Thanks for the ideas guys - the dizzy hasn't been changed to my knowledge - was a one owner car before me and always Volvo serviced. Looking through the records nothing mentioned.
In my care it has had a couple of new rotor arms, caps leads, plugs and never any issue before. When I spoke to the volvo dealers - the usual ones recommended here - they told me they couldn't tally the Volvo parts numbers with the numbers on the rotor arms. As I mentioned - one arm did have the same number on it apart from the '1.5' on the original and '2.5' on the replacement - fitted ok, but car didn't run with it. All the rotor arms I've had so far have been different - despite being for a stock Torslanda b200f.
