Default Is their anyone considering the new Audi E-tron?

With recently announced change in company car tax rules for pure EVs,( zero BIK year 1, and 1% in year 2), I have added the Audi to my short list. Anyone else feel the same?

Admittedly, its not a 7 seater( I would have preferred that,) and the real world range is 200 miles ( by common consensus).

I dont fancy any Tesla product and the upcoming Mecerdes EQC is rather bland looking.

No because: it's an Audi.
My customer experience was not the best at this brand. It always seems that Audi is doing us a favor when we buy one of their cars. It's simply a stupid mindset. That's not how I want to be handled as a customer and owner of a 50k+ £ product from their brand.

I agree with you, Mercedes is a bit meh and BMW just got way behind on the electric race.

I would wait for solutions from Volvo. They have only 1 full electric SUV planned for 2019, the XC40, but between 2020 and 2021 they will introduce 5 fully electric models in the segment.

I saw one last week parked up and it did look very smart. How much are they?

Going to test drive a Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD, the official range WTLP is 350ish miles but I guess real world will be nearer 250.

Their new pricing starts at £36k with grant for the std range, £46k for long range. That's a good bit less than an XC40 Twin Engine and a big saving over a T8 XC60.

Plus if you live in Scotland the govt are offering interest free loans up to £35k and additional funding for a home charge point. Looking into it we also seem to have quite a few free public charge points.

I think the move the full EVs is now gathering pace.

I am doing an all day test drive of the Audi next month.I will let you know what think of it afterwards.

I must say the Audi dealership I went to was not pompous at all( like the average Merc dealership) .

I certainly will go full electric after my T8, might even do it a lot sooner than later, with present cars on the market I would first look at the Tesla 3 performance, although the Y looks interesting.

I do not want to spend as much as all the main SUV rivals want for their E trons etc. Plus I want AWD

How could you change from an average to big size SUV to a small sedan? after owning my xc60 and test driving the model S, I don’t even feel like checking out the model 3. The comfort and usability is just not there.

The e tron is really lovely, it was my first option but couldn’t wait an estimated 9 months delivery time. On the other hand, my “tesla in love” friend says he read a lot of articles saying that the e tron is a complete failure and doesn’t even come close to the Tesla from an EV point of view.

If you can, follow the advice above, wait one or maximum two years to have a proper choice of EVs

Just don't get the ones where the wingmirrors are replaced by cameras and screens... very unnecessary!

I have looked at - after all I already drive an Audi. But at 20k more than the one I have, and bigger that I don’t need, it’s not selling itself too well.. it’s also not got the range of a Tesla or ipace, or even a Kia ENiro...

So I think for now I will pass and see what the next three or four years brings in terms of EV... I like the car I have so no hardship waiting!

A 3-ton SUV with a 300km range (in ideal conditions..) that takes hours to recharge and is dependent on a scarce charger network, with a base price (in France..) of 84K Eur. No, thanks. That's a bit steep (and pointless..) for a round-town toy. But to each his own, ofcourse.
