The filter is correct H1017. it's the casing that's wrong. I am trying to source a correct housing. Somewhere along the line somebody has fitted the wrong unit. It's too short.

Unfortunately, a look at the parts book for B16 shows 3 types of filter and housings. There is a pointy AC one, which yours isn't and 2 flatter ones with the bolt head recessed a bit. One is a Mann type and the other a Fram. Your old filter looks more like a Fram one but the book says that the Mann and Fram types have interchangeable filters. The illustration certainly seems to show that the AC one is taller so maybe H1017 is the alternate to the AC type insert.
Try Mann H1018 or GUD G547 or AC Delco AC71

If your new filter is 78mm high you have an H1017n. This is spec'd or the B16 but looks as if it's for the pointy AC casing.
see http://www.autopartoo.com/search/dir...html?kw=H1017n
Click on Applications on this page and it gives some chassis numbers for PV's with the pointy casing.
