Default XC40 AWD Kicking in

Bought a low mileage XC40 momentum pro t4 awd in January. It was initially registered in March 2019. Car is excellent. Think it is my 7th Volvo over 35 years.

I find that completely out of the blue the AWD function kicks in, but only for the briefest of time - probably not even a couple of seconds. The square icon in the centre of the dashboard flashes red a few times, then the car returns to normal.

This happens very occasionally - but will occur even if there is no change in road service - both in the wet and dry. I’ve told my Volvo garage about the issue, but they couldn’t help, saying it may correct itself with a software update.

Anybody experiencing the same sort of thing?

Thanks for reading.

I have an XC40 T5 Pro 2020 and the same happends about 2x per month, no good reason that i can tell but its possible that the road is slippery maybe...just a guess.
Does not cause any problems so I carry on regardless.
Cheers.
