Locations for the BKV 2008??
I know next year's event is booked somewhere up north, but when it returns down south in 2008 i was wondering if perhaps SantaPod could be considered for a venue, or perhaps people could suggest some other venues.
I've been to plenty of other marques show's at santapod and its great having the extra entertainment of the 1/4 mile ( as long as its not raining), alongside the traditonal aspects like the show n shine and Auto Jumbles. I feel having the 1/4mile facilites would bring out more members of other UK Volvo Forums, and could make the BKV a lot bigger than it is currently, and the club could gain a lot more members, it would also be advertised on Santapod's Calender advertising the show to an even bigger market. A lot of the UK based Volvo Forums, do seem to enjoy tinkering with the performance aspect of there cars, plus each forum has there own band that likes to wash and polish there cars. I have a nagging feeling though SantaPod might be too expensive, but then again i don't know how much the VOC pays to rent there venue of choice and all the other associated costs that go with it. Perhaps the Pod would work out the same due to them allready having all the facilities there. I know the VOC do really well at not charging to visit the show, wether that could be achived with SantaPod i'm not sure. BTW I am not affilated with SantaPod, i just happen to live 10miles from there and enjoy tinkering with the performance of my car and running it up the strip more than i do polishing the bodywork. Allthough any abandonded Runway with room to set the timing equipment up plus a large field forthe BKV would work for me. |

that's a good idea, I'd never go near a 1/4 mile normally but if it was there anyway then why not?
Would also let the performance crowd show off their pride and joy, and make a nice noise into the bargain. |

It would be great if this could be done - it would hopefully widen the appeal of the show. Let's hope the powers that be will at least look into the feasability and costs of this and let us know.

As with other marque shows, the running up the strip costs would be born by the owners wishing to run up there, but at £15 for 3 Runs or All day as on a RWYB day that is acceptable.
The only worring cost might be if to enter the show an admission fee is charged. As i recall GTI International the entry fee was £10, plus normal RWYB fees to go up the strip. But after speaking to well known people in the VW scene, the VW show's are organised by people who do it strictly to make money. With the VOC not into that, hopefully no entry fee would be needed and SantaPod Could be a viable option. Last edited by Chesh740R; Jun 25th, 2006 at 00:23. |
