Nextbase dash cam mounting
Nextbase dashcam series 2 windscreen mounts have a 3M sticky pad and work quite well but after a few days of warm sun the adhesive pad has started to soften and the weight of the cam started to pull it off the screen.
I have fitted a new one so see how long that lasts. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I've got a Nextbase camera, same issue, especially after last summer in Italy with very hot days.
Only solution is to remove the camera when parked up, kind of defeats the object of the exercise if you're worried your car might get knocked while parked. It really needs a small bracket into the headlining.

Have nextbase stopped doing the suction cupped mount? Similar to kitchen appliances...
Also do the cameras not shutdown a short while after the engine is switched off? On a different note. Have you seen the suggestions that you could waive your warranty if the camera is hardwired in, and yet hanging wires could be "blocking your view"! If you leave the camera on the screen while away from the car, the insurance company could refuse to pay for damages. You seriously cannot win with insurance companies! |

No suction cup with the camera I have just the 3M sticky pad as Bob mentioned.
The cameras do shutdown, they also have a shock sensor that reactivates the camera, this depends on the battery SoH and whether it's been baked in the sun. I've seen the reports regarding hardwiring, not an issue for me, plugged in to the 12v accessory port and unplugged overnight. The cameras battery can still activate without a feed.

They make a suction mount for series 2 devices.

I have the suction mount that came with the older 4 series. Then they produced the new stick on magnetic attachment model for the new models. Had to give that away when I replaced my car. Didn't want to risk the windscreen!
Still have the early one, still going strong! |

To stop the mount falling off, make sure the area of the screen you are fixing it to, is spotless clean, ideally with IPA.
