Hi Darren,

those plates you have under the rear parcel shelf, did you make those yourself or ore those bought? they look lOEM to me. i ended up mounting the reels onto the top of the wheel well, which don't look nearly as neat.

good effort...

They do look good. But they would be easy to get made. Just make a cardboard template of what you want, then bring it a steel fabricator. They will make them up. All thats left then is a coat of primer and a couple of coats of black.

I have Securon 264 seat belts in the back of my saloon - you can get them at most autofactors.

Bizarely, one is longer than the other so when I used to put the baby seats in it, only one could go in the back and the other up front (twins). So mother had to ride in the back - a bit Driving Miss Daisy style.... It was a bit of a stretch for the belts (both back and front) to go round the baby seats, but were nice and tightly fitting. By the way, the Mothercare baby seats are a great buy compared to the much more expensive other brands...

Now they're in stage 2 seats and I have Britax Isofix Prince Duo's. They fit in my V70 well - I had to buy Isofix brackets from Volvo, an easy bolt in job, £14 a side. These seats also fit in other cars with normal seat belts, including the Amazon. However, I would have to say that the springy seats in the Amazon mean that they're not as tight as in a modern car. The twins love it though - they can look around!!

Here's a thought - could the V70 isofix brackets be attached under the seat of the Amazon (weld/bolt)? Then attach a Britax top-tether (available from Mothercare, Halfords etc) to the metal parcel shelf. This would make it as secure as anything.

Hi Guys,

Yes I made the plates. They were simple enough. As already mentioned, just make a card template and get them fabricated to suit your belts. You will also need to weld a stud on for the retractor to bolt to.

You can fix Isofix hooks to any car if you are careful. You need to make sure that there is a load spreading plate. The top tether will also need a fixing. Again, simple enough. I would use Isofix over belts any day. I spent time crash testing child seats at Saab, Landrover and Jag for many years. REgular belts are crap to be honest, when it comes to retaining a child seat.

Two Britax seats in the back of my Amazon. They love being able to see out of the car!

I did fit a car seat in the back of my estate with non-inertia belts, and it fitted snugger and tighter than in the moderns...

Not the lower mounting point near the rear door. Or maybe it was in the two doors but definately not in the four door. I have owned about seven amazons including three estates and none of them have had the lower mounting thread fitted. No idea why that one was omitted.

All Amazons are ready for front and rear seatbelts. (Well, not the very early ones - but according to installation guides, there should be prepared holes etc.).
