Default Correct Battery XC90 D5 2015

hi everyone,
i have XC90 D5 First Edition 2015 (new shape), but i'm unsure what's the correct battery to replace the existing one. i have tested the current battery, and its coming up as faulty ( charge stays at 55%/57%).

could you please recommend a battery?

Hi ,
Unfortunately your in the wrong category, this is for the latest generation XC60.
If you go up the page to the S60 category you will find your XC60 generation.
Good luck.👍

Senior moment there, I think Bobby2000 - the OP says he has an XC90 D5 First Edition....this is in the correct sub forum for his model as this is for all SPA models.

Yep definitely a senior moment, I could sworn I read XC60,.
Probably because that's what I've got.
Sorry about that.🤐

I’d actually open the boot cover off the left hand side and have a look on the label for the model number. Not the brand name but the three digit model code.

Mind you, it has another battery in the engine compartment which is a mystery to me. Presumably you should test both to see which one or both are shot. There’s not much info about this yet outside the dealer network.

The extra battery in the engine compartment is the helper battery for the Start/Stop system

Both batterys are likely AGM. Fit only AGM replacements.

you need to get the proper battery for this complex car , your volvo dealer is the best bet , it will be the correct size , rating and type and also will be competitively priced .. i'm surprised you have not tried the dealer you might get some contribution if it really has failed so soon .

I would certainly check the existing batteries for performance and type. They are probably AGM but they may also be calcium batteries , a legacy from Ford days. The dealer will know and be able to test of course, but they may also be substantially more expensive than DIY and sourcing batteries from a motor factor with trade discount

Some batteries do come with long warranties but almost always with a sliding scale applied to claims. It is certainly worth checking what the original fit terms are but suspect a strict three years from registration

This is the battery we can all see when we lift up the bonnet/hood.

So where is the main battery hidden away?

And how do you get to have a look at it?
