More than likely the wiring loom. First thing to try is, unplug the loom inside the boot and then plug it in again and see if that sorts out the problem.

My boot would not open and that sorted it out.

The no. plate lights work but the boot will not open. Is the problem likely to be with the boot handle or a broken wire in the loom?
most likely the loom , I would just change it ...

Thumbs up

I had same problem, removed the number plate light trim, 4 x torx screws, unpluged connector and using a 6v lamp battery conected 1 wire to single connector and the other wire to 1 of the other connections and the boot popped open, i then looked into the wiring at the boot opening and found 4 of the 6 black wires with the insulation broken, reconnected 1 that was hanging on with 1 strand of wire, tapped them all up, boot opens normally, jobs a good one.

Same problem, I’ve replaced the switch and have a new boot wiring harness to fit, I connected the connectors under the parcel shelf and the one to the boot lock and still it won’t damwell open!
