If so thats a big power gain.

Indeed that is a substantial claimed power gain.

You do really need to get into some in depth information on just how vulnerable these engines are to too high outputs.

Your best resource is www.t5d5.org where most of the owners of modified later model Volvo cars congregate these days, some very knowledgeable, experienced and maybe opinionated people.

Regards Don.

Thanks Don

do you have any customer feedback regarding your product.

the figures quoted ( BHP and NM) are more than the rica upgrades so have there been any issues with reliability and durability?

thanks

Your geartronic has 350 Nm standard torque, whereas the manual has 400 Nm standard torque.

For the geartronic C30/C70/S40/V50 D5, the normal RICA maps are tuned to a lower output than the manual equivalents.

However, RICA can make different software with higher or lower output on request.

Your best resource is www.vpcuk.co.uk or www.t5d5.co.uk or www.volvoforums.org.uk where many owners of modified and later model Volvo cars congregate, some are very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to tuning.

Let's get that right now Don. I and many do not see T5D5 as the be all of Volvo tuning, far from it.

If you are going to be helpful as a trader, then please give members the FULL FACTS.

As to help the OP, RICA, MTE, BSR do off the self maps for the Volvo D5 engine, but you can go to someone like Superchips who develop their maps in the U.K and have many U.K dealers http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/V...bhp%2005on.pdf

Let's face it - you've got a grump on.... and to be fair, have had - ever since you didn't get to buy your way onto the track day...

And BTW - Superchips are WIDELY regarded as an absolute bag of w*nk with regards their remaps...

I too can do cut and paste replies following you all over......

Default Engine differences.

Just to say that the engine in any small late model D5 is entirely different to all the other 'D5's fitted to the larger cars so therefore the intercoolers will have been specced not only to suit the individual engines but the very different space into which they are fitted, that is the space available in the Focus platform S40, V50, C30 and C70 as opposed to Volvo's own P2 or P3 platforms.

Volvo will have made detailed changes to all aspects of coolant circulation and charge air cooling to take into account which engine and into what size space it fits and the volumes of air available and so on and so forth.

Well written software from an aftermarket source will have been developed with a keen eye for keeping coolant temperatures within Volvo's parameters.

Don't forget that the highly sophisticated current ECUs found in all these Volvos have component protection as one of their main purposes and will pull back or override much to that end...obviously altering the claimed outputs of some aftermarket software suppliers....

Regards, Don.
