In a way I'm not surprised - one of the frustrations I had when making my purchasing decision was the lack of cars available for test drive - no sooner were they in the dealer than they had been snapped up. The snow in December really seems to have increased demand for the AWD version of the car at least.

As stated above though - cost to change is paramount. If the deal is for a car at list, think of it this way: would you sell the car for £21.5k today and buy a car through Drive the Deal?

I would think he will be giving you £28K against a new on at list price or with a sensible discount not as much as DDD discount.

He surely won’t give you that if you are going to rush of to DDD and buy a discounted on would he?

Sounds too good to be true if you get that deal , where is the profit !

Agreed, we only have half the story here. Only when we know what price you have to pay for the new one can one properly judge. Unless you're saying that the price on yours is not dependant on buying a new one from him?

The final offer was for £27,000. Still about £3,000 over Parkers guide, and fixed until delivery in May. So still only a 4 grand drop in 18 months. By the time the deal was done I added Premium and a tow bar, but the price for the car wasn't far off the DTD price making the cost to change too tempting to pass. Thanks to the guys at Paul Rigby Brum. Podless in May :0)

Good deal yes but I see his profit of £1000 is in the 27k offered as against the original 28k you mentioned .It does show that dealers are working on lower margins now a days to shift them which is good if you have one to sell. The price has gone up a fair bit this last year so it’s the price to change that counts and that will be a fair bit more than the £4k drop you mention

He asked if I was interested in a valuation as there is a lot of interest in the car. A short time later he came back with an offer of just under £28,000. Now considering I bought the car in Oct 2009 and only paid £31,000 for it, they had me hooked. I have asked him to email an offer based on the spec of my current car with the Premium pack.

I know the prices have gone up, but DTD is offering a D5 SE Lux Prem Auto for £33,533 against a list price of £39,500 with a few options.

The question is, should I snap his hand off? I have worked out I could extend my payments for an additional 18 months and be no worse off and no cash to pay. Just waiting for that email.

What delivery times have you guys been quoted as I bet the trade in deal is for this month and not in 3 months or so.
hi, i have just nnoted your posting . i am on the lookout for a similar spec car - what offer did they come up with in the end ?
