Delivery tips?
After 15 weeks my wait is finally over, my car arrives this week.
Can anyone recommend any "do this first" tips? Anything that anyone did or didn't do when they first got their XC60, that they should or shouldn't have done?! |

Good question and looking forward to hearing from those lucky XC60 owners who have theirs.

I didn't and ended up with this: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=96775 It's been repaired now, but still annoying to find a fault when you arrive home. Other than that, I can only suggest you draw up a checklist of the complete vehicle spec plus all accessories and tick off each item during handover. |

As for the ipod tip; personally I don't own one so no worries there. I'm actually going to be using the Aux in for a cassette walkman (since the stereo plays everything EXCEPT cassettes!) |

It's exciting taking delivery of a new motor so take your time and look at the exterior and interior carefully for any damage. I thought one of the chrome bits on my interior was damaged and pointed it out to the dealer. He dealt with it there and then - it was a stubborn mark rather than damage.
If possible (and I know it's outside your control) take delivery in daylight and when it's dry. Water on cars and the light at dusk can mask scratches and minor dents. We all went to get in and bezz off in our new car but take your time when looking around it. Test things too - make sure all warning lights go out on the dash. Make sure exterior lights work etc. |

I usually carry a check, on my own, immediately after the dealer handover. This releases the busy salesman and gives you the opportunity to get familiar with the position of controls etc with the opportunity to raise any issues before you leave their premises. A search on the internet will throw up many new car checklists, here is a useful dealership based generic list that could prove useful. http://www.theintarweb.org/cars/NewCarChecklist.pdf Hope it helps Steve |

Mine arrived on the back of a transporter to work...so no dealer handover.
Once unloaded I checked it had the options I'd ordered and started her up. Then looked around each of the panels in turn to make sure no dents or scratches. Also checked the alloys. And that was about it !! |

Based on the number of people experiencing rising oil levels I'd suggest checking the level with the dealer so you can be sure it was aboslutely right from the start so that if it does rise you will know it's down to the DPF.
