Default XC90 Steering Wheel - Oak Leather

Our car has a wooden steering wheel and we want to change it to the standard leather. The colour is oak (beige colour).

Hi yes, thats a shame, don't know how we could do that as i am guesing that volvo would have to deactivate the airbags and swap them over.

I will post on the forum to see if anyone can confirm what is required to remove the steering wheels.

Pictures attached. As can be seen the leather is discoulured at the edges, but would easily dye, there are lots of kits on ebay.

Is it the same colour as yours?

Hi yes its the same colour, if anyone knows how to do it please let us both know.
I have already this week bought a leather gliptone leather dye kit to refresh my leather a bit so could easily administer to the steering wheel.
Do you ever come down towards London as I commute there regular.

Hi Bill,

Occassionally my wife goes to Herfrordshire to visit family so we could get down that way at some point i'm sure.

I will post and see what is involved in swapping the wheels, If i could remove it myself i could send it next day, just not sure what the implications of the air bag are.

Will post a question on the XC90 general forum.

Could you please upload a photo of your wheel

Thanks

Steve

Bill,

Looking at the instructions it seems it can be done without taking in to volvo. I have attached the VIDA instructions on how to do it, the important thing being to disconnect the battery and wait before proceeding.

Yeh looks pretty straight forward to me, and as both have cruise and hifi control with no phone we can leave the buttons in situe aswell for ease.

Ok well let me know your moves and perhaps we can meet up, will post pics this evening of mine.

Cheers

Bill
