Default Finally ordered my XC90

Hi,
This is my first post on this Forum, but following months of research and plenty of time spent reading the threads on this forum, I finally ordered my XC90 today.
I placed my order through Drive the Deal, as my local dealers where at least £500 off the dtd price. I am due to take delivery at the end of November. Will let you know how the DTD process goes.

I took delivery yesterday of my second DTD sourced XC90 in 3 years. And before that I'd bought a different SUV 3 years before that - so I've spent over £100k with DTD since 2003.

Can't fault them one iota. The volvo dealer they use is efficient, courteous, helpful and completely customer service focussed. They also seem to get cars delivered to them earlier than many other dealers!

Hope you have as good an experience with them as I have done.

I'm in the process of choosing my next car and due to the disounts on DTD I am seriously looking at an XC90 D5. I haven't tried to get my local dealer to match DTD yet and can't imagine that they'll be able to.

My only concern about using DTD is that it's a dealer miles away.

I'm in Cambridge, can anyone advise where the dealer is likely to be if i were to go down the internet route ?

Thanks

I enquired from dealdrivers, and their supplier (possibly only one of two or more??) was a large chain in the north east - presumably Mill. I had already spoken to Mill, and they matched this price (with only a little coaxing), giving me a £10k discount and a good PX price.
The drive was 3 hours each way, but my wife and I made a day of it - it made the collection process more of an occasion.

From Cambridge is it not just a short hop across to Colchester (well, it must be fairly close) ? Give Rob Lang a call at Lookers Volvo in Colchester. I will shortly be collecting a new XC90 from Rob and the whole process couldn't have been easier. Rob knows about customer service alright.

Contact number is 01206 717300

Thanks very much for your contributions...

Had an interesting day so far which started with a test drive in Cambridge with a salesman who I felt wasn't taking me particularly seriously and ended with a deposit with Rob Lang at Lookers Colchester.

Thanks to John who recommended I place the call to him as I've ordered an XC90 D5 SE Lux Geartronic with metallic paint (black), privacy glass, PA switch and Tempa spare. Delivery (fingers & toes crossed) for December delivery.

I've never bought a car over the phone before. Rob was really easy to talk to and did me a brilliant deal. If you're thinking of using DTD then definitely try Rob first.

I.

Don't worry about Rob Lang from Colchester (he is a very honest guy and not your typical salesman who puts pressure on you). I was in the same boat as you and nearly placed an order with him over the phone with a deposit in June and i would not hesitate to place an order with him in the future.

He was very very competitive with his quote (honest & knowledgeable) and i knew he would take care of me but in the end i resorted to my local dealership 'cos of the distance i would have to travel to collect my car. My life is busy with two young toddlers under 2 and my local volvo dealer assured me that the car will be prepared to my exact spec and to gain the sale they beat the quote by a few hundred quid.

I took delivery of my XC90 SE Lux Manual only less than 3 weeks ago - so far so good. I switched from bmw estate to volvo and was considering purchasing a 5 series estate. I am very happy with the motor it is very comfortable and relaxing to drive and love the manual but it is very different to driving a six or eight cylidner petrol car.

The local garage knew that I am a meticulous customer and they got my front pakring sensors fitted & painted by an accident repair specialist who are used to taking apart front bumpers instead in house by a service technician who will probably break clips in the process and do a bodge paint job. I even got the new car prepared exactly the way I wanted – no polish to make it look like a shorwroom finish. New cars don’t need polish so I got them to apply the new Autoglym high definition wax instead of selling me cling film to protect the car i.e. supaguard or diamondbrite. However, they did apply supaguard to the alloys so it saves me waxing them.

the following website is selling the autoglym HD wax product at £25 which normally retails at £40. http://www.premiumcarcare.co.uk/

Hope it goes well for you.

Hi all same as Jay , I spoke with Rob Lang but my loacal dealer gave me an offer just as good and they are a 5 minute drive away . If they had not been so helpful then Rob would have had my business . Any way had my car 3 weeks now and seriously impressed , xc90 selux geartronic , black sapphire metallic , tinted rear windows , side steps and a tow bar . Actually towed our caravan with her last weekend , you could hardly feel it was there , superb .

I use drivethedeal and the like to get a bottom-line price. That is then very helpful to benchmark prices from dealers. I bargain hard but don't push for the last penny out of every deal. I am happy to leave a reasonable amount in the deal because I much prefer doing business with people.

If we all go down the drivethedeal road, we are unlikely to have many showrooms to try before we buy.
