Default 2008 V70 Steering wheel upgrade.

I would like to upgrade my 2008 V70 Steering wheel and airbag ( all black version) to a later 2009 onwards wheel and Airbag with the smaller Airbag and chrome trim version. I have seen the only different is the airbag connector from the slip-ring to the Airbag.

Is it possible to swap the slip-ring to the later type along, with the later type Steering wheel and Airbag ?

Regards, J.

Hi,

I switched mine earlier this year. It’s really easy to do and a simple swap. No need to special tools or reprogramming.

There’s a YouTube video showing how to take the airbag out.

Thanks for the reply here. The questions I face are, having removed my existing airbag to have a look, the connectors to the airbag as different to the later '09 model steering wheels I would like to replace it with.

I have access to a matching slip ring, for the later type. Wondering if the later slip ring ( which are plugged into the stalk controls) are still compatible ?

I changed mine on my S80 and found the section of wiring can be removed and the old section used!
