Working V70 P1 3 button remote keyfob -9184786
My recently purchased 1999 V70 came with only one remote keyfob which works fine.
I believe the important number on the back of the keyfob is 9184786. Anyone got a redundant one they want to sell me. Colin

Six years later and I still have only one remote fob to use.
Consequently, when away from home, I don't usually use the one I have in case it gets lost when the car is alarmed. I rely on the door locks and the transponder chip in each key for security. I had to use it at home recently though as the locks were frozen. Anyone have a Phase 1 V/S70 Part No: 9184786 fob going spare? I think the C70 ones might be different. According to VIDA my car has 3 remote fobs already registered to it so I have no idea what happened to the other 2, they didn't come with the car. I believe 3 is the maximum number of fobs able to be registered to the car. So I can't just buy the correct fob and expect it to register. I also believe VIDA can remove registered fobs but not individually, only all of them. Then all required fobs would need to be re-registered with the car. This is what I would need to do, and with VIDA offline so to speak. Has anyone done this - removed all registered fobs then re-registered the ones required? Are all my beliefs correct? Colin

The easiest way to add fobs to your car is simply to change the remote locking ecu. Let me explain...
I have an ecu (located above the accelerator pedal/behind the headlight switch) removed from a car that has 2 fully working fobs. Replace your ecu with mine and then that will mean the 2 fobs I have will work on your car and the one you used to have will no longer work with your car as it is programmed to the ecu you just removed. Dead simple, I've done this change on 2 cars now. Here it is listed on eBay... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2527276675...84.m1555.l2649 I will sell for £40 privately if you're not an eBay user.

Quote:
Could you please PM me photos of the items as the ones in the eBay ad are very dark. Please photo details of the pinout too. Also, AIUI there are two variants of type for the remote locking control unit - one that fits in the location you quote and one that fits in a different location behind the dash. Each variant then has an assortment of different part No's. I'm not sure which mine is and whether the pinouts are compatible. I will have to have sight of mine to investigate further. The part No quoted in your eBay ad is matched specifically for 1999 > and C70 so I would need to verify further whether it is compatible to mine. I'd be happy with the price you quote if it is suitable. Would you include postage in that? Thanks - Colin

Hey again Colin.
It was indeed removed from a 2003 C70. It is definitely a good idea to see where yours is (I have heard it can be in other locations but on 5/5 cars I've looked in it has been in the same place, behind the headlight switch, angled diagonally with green connectors). If it is in the location I quote on your car then I guarantee it will fit your car, the only 'issue' being that the boot will unlock independently now (as C70s don't have boot handles). Just a case of pressing the boot button on the fob. If it doesn't work on your car I'll happily receive it back and refund you. I'll take some photos for you tomorrow and upload in the evening for you. One of the fobs is quite new and both work perfectly. And yes, I'd let it go for £40 including UK postage. Thanks, Dave
