Maf

Hi there
On my 2001 V70 Petrol (Non turbo). I recently did a Maf clean, and noticed there is no grill on the filter side of the Maf unit. I believe the grill spreads the air evenly onto the sensor. Would this be considered much of a problem in performance.
By the way, I just did a Contactless TPS conversion: amazing improvement in running.

That all 3 of my V70's (all non-turbo) had the grille so I'd suspect the one in your car isn't original but I do not know for sure.

Has it been running OK?

Please provide details (source, price, impressions) on the contactless TPS you installed.

Constantly going into limp before changing TPS. Cost was about £70. Took about 2hours to fit, with digging out sealant on terminals worst bit.

the grill will in no way affect the reading, its about air flow moving through it, the grill is to protect the components and worst case scenario, stop a mashed up air filter getting sucked into the engine etc (ok, that's an extreme example from my Landrover days!).

Would need large vanes to have any measurable effect.
