Hi, re' the above,I will be replacing the rear shocks with Bilsteins.I have a set of new rear springs which I would like to fit at the same time. My question is,once I have removed the shocks will the arm drop down far enough for the springs to be removed or is there something else I need to do? Just need to know beforehand so that I can allocate enough time before I start

Yes.

Just to explain, there's a lot of movement on the lower arm so you should be able to drop it far enough to pop the spring out easily. I had Nivos on mine with the extra long (but seriously soft!) springs and even they virtually fell out - in fact one of them did!

The new springs, being "normal", shorter and stiffer just dropped in and i had to lift the lower arm just to get the ends to meet.

Hi, you didn't mention that the springs are held in at the top by a rubber mount,cup and bolt. Will I need to remove the trim over the rear luggage space to get to it? Bummer because the trim is held in place with something like Bostic. I may as well replace the rubber whilst I am at it if I can find replacements.

Mine just dropped out, nothing to hold them in at the top at all - maybe they changed it for the 9xx series?

Undo the bolt from inside the coil. 14mm head IIRC

No you should not need access to the top, just undo it from below. Clean and WD40 the threads as much as possible.

I tried undoing the nut but it seems frozen to the stud. I need to know whether of not the stud screws into a captive nut or if i unscrew the nut/stud all the way a loose nut will fall off at the inside. Yes I did manage to unscrew the stud /nut assembly but stopped until I could discover what it screws into.Don't like to just dive in blind.
