What you describe is similar to what happened on my s60 when the slave started leaking at around 100k. It's now on nearly 145k. I just kept topping the fluid up for about 10k or so and then for the last 30k it's never leaked a drop! Clutch is loverly and light changes really well so I just never did anything about it and that was 2 years a ago!

Went back to garage who fitted the clutch their records do not show whether genuine volvo or a after market assembly however they are servicing and mot the car on friday and they are going to check the clutch out.

They're all made by Luk, aren't they ? Including the DMF ?

As mentioned, the answer depends how is the clutch used, so basically you will get all kinds of answers to this question. In fact, it is a question that one would rather not ask because no one can predict the life span on wear items such as brakes and clutch plate

If the driver does mostly long motorway distances, the clutch will last 500.000 miles on any car simply because it's not used at all

If the driver does mostly city driving will lots of gear changes, the slave cylinder will fail perhaps somewhere before 100.000 miles on a 2001-2009 Volvo, even well before that (engine out job). Theoretically, the slave cylinder is the weak component of these P2 clutches

If the driver is slipping the clutch at every gear change, the clutch plate will wear before 100.000 miles on any car

If the driver keeps the clutch pedal depressed at every traffic light, the plate bearing will fail before 100.000 miles on any car
