The image looks like you are getting a Volvo part.

When you read through it is aftermarket

I have nearly been caught with that. Scrolling down ebay listings it very much looks that you are buying a genuine part. It is not until you read the full description that it becomes clear it is pattern. To be fair to Parts Monster they are not the only ones doing that, the majority of sellers do. As ever it is caveat emptor.

To answer your question, yes they are. Yet eBay make lots of money as a result so could care less.
Reporting such sellers is met with 'You are rival company trying to close down the competition !' in broken English......
Actually happened to me......

Yep, I did that. Performance Parts brake pads turned up rather than Volvo branded. No problem whatsoever in getting them returned and a refund processed.

Unless it actually says 'genuine' then I don't see the problem.

As ITSv40 says Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware. Ebay can be a good place to buy things but I think the origins of ordinary decent people selling stuff to other ordinary decent people are long forgotten.
Knowledge of the 240/740 would make me think that a genuine Volvo part would not be available in large numbers like a trader would be offering so any part that is 'new' would be a pattern part. It may be a very good pattern part but if originality matters you need to know. As for the ad the lack of the Volvo iron logo would also probably suggest to me it's not an official part but other traders probably don't mind hijacking the logo too.

Fifty quid for a knock-off tail light??

Kind of on-topic I remember being quite glum when buying (years ago) a pair of tail light units from the scrapyard he charged me £7 each ... SEVEN QUID!
It used to be a fiver each.

They're still on the car, going strong.

Just saying : I'm really stingey.

Volvo 240, 260 Estate (81-93) Rear Tail Lamp / Light / Lens (Left)

I'm very happy, with parts monster parts and service
I've even bought aluminium sway bar brackets for a 2000 V40 from them

but when they taped my dipstick and oil cap seals into their packaging
and I cut them in half
not so much

caveat emptor my eye, read the listing and buy it or not

there is nothing to beware except hobgoblins

Clever wording. It is new and it is a part that fits a Volvo. It doesn't actually say its a genuine Volvo part

Personally I wouldn't buy any of the sh*te from these companies but it's just the way things are these days.
