Leak help.
Wet drivers carpet, so after removing the caroet and underlay i found the floir soaking wet, the rear wash works and heater is piping hot, doesnt apoear to be any coolant loss. All other foitwells are bone dry. I cant see any wet patches up under pedals. The caroet is dry under handbrake tunnel too. It looks like its coming from the seat area but water is decieving!!.. any ideas on where to look? I did notice that the pkatic trim in photo is split but it apperas dry

Check the plastic panel plug near/behind the ecu.
My last one leaked from a rusty hole on the bulkhead, where the bonnet release cable goes through. |

Look in thecentre of the sound deadening pad at the front end, there's a big bulge - i'd lay bets if you lifted it there you'd find the hole.

Look at this picture, where i've put the "++++" signs, immediately below that on the sound deadening material. I know there's a ridge there but it shouldn't be bulging like that. Cast your mind back to the pictures i posted of my passenger side footwell and the hole in that - exactly the same place but on the other side. It's a common spot for rust and you can't see it from underneath the car, only when you lift all the material away from the floor to find it from inside.

I would get the hose out and spray underneath and gradually work your way up to the roof and see if you can see any drips. It looks as if the footwell has been damp for a while and rusting out from inside.
If sunroof check drains work. Suspect rear drains go down centre post. Also remove the sill cover trim to check the sill for holes. Mine needs clearing as water finds it's way along roof lining to roof light or fully at rear and drips onto load cover! Suspect rear sunroof drains blocked. Try to park facing downhill! One you find the leak I would grind back the rust and treat it and re paint it. Must sort it out! Its a great workhorse. James. Last edited by volvo always; Mar 18th, 2019 at 02:57. |
