However the only reference I can find to it is on another site:

haha - the swear filter got your link!

I know the issue is resolved now, but if anyone in the future comes across the thread, replace the **** in the link with 's h i t' (i kid you not!) and don't include the spaces

it refers to the Audi engine fitted to the P1 and very early P2 2.5D cars.

Can I ask some questions.... when can the bearing noise be heard?
How loud was it?

The wife drove our volvo on Monday and complained of no ac.... I took it our Tues and today and it worked fine.. well it was cold lol

Ac clutch engaging as it should... however I do notice a strange noise, now even when driving, when the ac kicks in with the clutch... beginning to wonder if bearings are going!

Or maybe I'm paranoid lol

What part do you get to repair yours?
How easy a fix was it?

The bearing gets dry after 100K miles. You'll hear it clutch on or off with the engine idling by popping the hood. It's like a friction noise. If you are very careful, you can also grab a 3ft hose and approach one end near the compressor and listen at the ear at the other end - but be really careful with the moving belts and no hanging clothes/ties/hair!

Normally we only replace the bearing inside the clutch plate and remove 1-2 shims to adjust the clutch plate (no need to replace the clutch plate itself)

see the video description to source a bearing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAGDkwYSFY4

Looking for help with my air con, just bought a 2008 v50 r design and the air con blows warm, had a pressure test done and they said it has a large leak as they can hear it from the right side, I told them to stop there as they wanted to charge me a lot for labour to find the leak itself. Any ideas as to what this could be please.

You're in the wrong section but leaks on a V50 are usually caused by a leaking condenser.
Not a cheap fix..... £400 ish maybe?
