960 coolant level sensor
Some time ago I upgraded the coolant reservoir on my 940 Celebration estate to include a level sensor from a 960. It has worked perfectly until now, alerting me on a couple of occasions that the coolant level was low.
However, now the warning light is coming on even though the coolant level remains high, so I am assuming that the sensor is faulty. Are these a replaceable item? There are some listed on ebay but I cant see on the reservoir how it comes apart. Any ideas please? Shaun |

Yes the reed switch that slots in the base of the coolant tank just pulls out and there should be a connector plug nearby. Could be that the magnetic float in the tank has got stuck. Remove the tank and give it a good shake. You should be able to feel/hear the float moving.
The reed switch is shown in the attached pdf (part #38).

960 coolant sensor
I still have the problem with the sensor getting stuck.
Is there a way of freeing this? Is is a serviceable item? I'm guessing that its the sensor because the circuit works, but the light comes on without there being a drop in coolant during the summer months.....I'm also guessing that the magnet could be going rusty??? Thanks Shaun |

Yes I put one on my 1995 D24 900 as my tempreture gauge stopped working years ago .I've seen the sensors for sale ebay etc. So so not a big job to replace t
hem get one and go from there you will need some joint fittings fairly simple job |

Thanks for that, J Liddy.
My problem is this. How do I determine whether the magnet inside the reservoir is stuck or whether the sensor is faulty? The lamp works, so I am assuming that the magnet is getting stuck. Is there a way to free this permanently or is it a case of renewing the reservoir? Thanks |

Sensor
The sensor/switch clicks in from the bottom of the tank, so I assume you should be able to get it out the same way. If you move a magent along the sensor it should switch the warning lamp on and off. If it doesn't, replace the sensor/switch
