Default CEM-8F05 Hazard Switch Activated too long Issue

Hi Guys,

Last year i bought a volvo car S60 2.5t FWD 2009 chasis 723729, engine B5254T2, Transmission AW55-50/51SN, Steering L,H,D Body Style 4DRS SR from US, it worked fine, since the beginning of the year it was off 2 months and the battery died. At the beginning of March my cousin recharge the battery and the alarm began to sound, due the sound i think he got confused and he didn't know how to stop it, i think he disconnect and connect the cables many times. Finally he stopped it with the key, but the hazard lights still activated.

I took the car to Volvo dealer the only one in my country and they answer me that they can’t receive the car because it is an American version and they only receive cars they sold or were sold in my country. So I took it to another workshop that was the last official volvo dealer but looses the representation in 2002. They scan the car for US$200.00 and told me that I need a new CEM unit and they can sell it, but they don’t have access to Volvo intranet to download the module software.

I called IPD USA they told me that the CEM unit only sells Volvo, but they ask me if it was checked because it generally need to be reprogrammed, they gave me too a business called Xemodex at Canada who can repair this unit if it is a hardware issue.

So in one hand I have no support in my country in the other I have to send this module to Canada, for this reason at the beginning of the month i begun to take a look at some forums and know about VIDA software and DiCE interface. Finally i found a workshop with this equipment it’s an old one VIDA 2010D but I think that maybe it works.

In the Fault Trace menu:

Initial State:
CEM – 8F05 Hazard Switch Activated too long

Related CSC
Turn signals, Rear turn signal does not work, 7O
Turn signals, Front turn signal does not work, JD
Hazard warm lights, Flashers/hazard lights do not work, JE

So I disconnect the hazard cable but the light continue blinking, I think maybe because it works with something called LIN, and the main processor is at the CEM unit who has the state of activated or something like this. So if I’m correct how can I test this hazard unit I saw it has 3 cables and the socket has 5.

I will appreciate your support.
