Lightbulb Mechanical fuel pump issue solved

After trying to start and failing ,I disconnected the (mechanical) pump from the carb and put a suitable container to catch fuel.
Turned the engine over and nothing came out.
I disconnected the main fuel tank to pump hose and blew through it to see if it was blocked, I heard the reassuring sound of bubbles emanating from said tank.
I connected a temporary fuel supply directly to the carb and she fired up.
While the engine was running I checked the pump and suction was present.
So I reconnected the tank to pump line (engine still running) and fuel began to be pumped, reconnected pump to carb and no more problems.

It should be noted that I was in the process of ordering a new Pierburg Pump before I solved the issue.
So I would recommend trying this procedure if a faulty fuel pump is suspected, it could save replacing the pump amongst other things.

BTW fitted a new oil filter, today anyone else find that it has to be fed up from underneath to fit .Awkward.

No, I've always changed mine from above.
I don't see the problem?
