Default Polestar and insurance

Just got a quote from Santander for an XC90 and when I told them that it had Polestar the quote went from £280 to £640.
Privilege said that it would not affect my premium as long as it added less than 10% power, althoughthey want £420.

Considering Santander was the most complained about bank - they don't have a clue about customer service it seems, I suspect their insurance arm is a shambles too.

Probably a case of "Computer say ..... NO".

I tried to explain that it was just a software modification but she didn't understand what software meant.

Direct line threw my 21yr old off the policy for my Volvo (200hp with Polestar)
They already insured him for his own BMW (231hp) but it was ok to keep him on and get the RS6 as this wasnt "modified" and only has 572hp stock!... exactly!

My 2017 XC60 D5 R Design purchased 2017 May. Insured with Admiral. Polestar software installed October 2017. My age 76 insurance premium Fully Comp remains at £350 without any increase with Polestar installed. I have never found any of these companies that sell their insurance services on forum sites been able to provide me with a better quotation. I use two companies which I rotate, Privilage and Admiral. I also use my Volvo for business, yes at 76 I am still working at running my own architectural practice.

Hi

Did you tell them about the upgrade and / or was it considered a factory / Volvo fitted option?

Thx

Dan

I know yours is the later model than mine, but having Polestar has never affected my premiums. Its currently about £210 a year for me, a retired old fart, which I reckon is pretty good for a group 43 car.
