Warranty problem whilst abroad
I am currently in Spain with my XC90 2016. With Spanish dealer with Engine performance issue. I have three year warranty. Volvo Assistance say that in Europe they only have two year warranty so I will have to pay and claim back from my UK dealer. My dealer says no must be claimed back by Spanish dealer. Does anyone have experience of such an issue. Any advice welcomed. Thanks

I believe your dealers correct. Have you contacted Volvo directly and named the Dealer involved? That would be the route I’d follow personally, I had a different issue but VW reminded them of their obligation to their customers. Hope you resolve it soon.

Surely the warranty is based on the contract you signed up for when purchasing the car especially when it's another European country.
If the case it the repair can only be carried out when back in the UK then Volvo European assistance should be stumping up the cash to send the car back to the UK for repair whilst providing you with a suitable replacement.

Hi, I live in france and have an 18 month old ex uk xc60. I looked into warrenties in detail before buying a uk volvo recently.
My understanding if what customer services told me was that the usual extended warrenties you get on a used car if the car is say a selekt volvo is not valid once you cross water. The only warrenty that is valid is the volvo main warrenty that comes with a new car. Once you go abroad the usual proceedure is to pay the foreign dealer, get the reciept and make a warrenty claim to volvo uk. I would try to speak to uk customer services and also the warrenties section( they will give you the phone number) as there is a proceedure that will involve the foreign dealer ( you may need to get the claim approved in priciple before the work is carried out) you have to follow so you get reimbursement when you return to the uk. Unfortunately i think thats about the best result you will get. |
