The vehicle watch sticker takes me back, back when car crime was an epidemic, not that i saw any Volvos being joyridden!

Cars only get stolen to order now... My friend parked a 1997 Hilux in Govanhill in Glasgow and left it unlocked (dodgy central locking required an intricate combination of climbing through windows and locking doors manually), someone went through it and all that got stolen was a hammer.

The little round yellow sticker in the back window on my estate, you can see it in one of the pics on pg 1.

I'll be keeping that sticker, and the wonky LEX sticker too! Nice little now old fashioned details.

The other sticker actually on the tailgate lower corner is for 'Volvo cruise control' never seen one of those stickers before?
It's also got the Monroe adjustable rear suspension, that's the other badge below the faded cruise control sticker.
Was the Monroe adjustable set up a factory option or an aftermarket add on? I can't remember seeing any other 700's with that badge on either.

Thanks - i just wondered as i normally spot them fairly easily.

As for the Monroe bits' as far as i know it was never offered by Volvo or their dealers but could be wrong. It was an aftermarket kit usually fitted either to replace dead Nivomats or to upgrade standard shocks. I still had the gauge, valve and tubing on my blue-green one but no tailgate decal or Monroe Load Levelers on the back end - they'd been replaced with normal shocks!

I've not really looked at that system yet on this car so I've no idea if it works or not. I was just wondering about parts for it tbh, I've heard the Nivomats are expensive!
Don't suppose it matters really as I can easily just get some standard estate shocks if needs be.

Monroe stuff is pretty thin on the ground now :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_od...veler&_sacat=0

A few months back there was quite a bit of it including for the 7/9xx series but it was mostly NOS stuff. Also at the time rear shocks were plentiful as well

Nivos i think will be available, the price i found typically was about £350 + VAT - EACH!!!!

Just seen the pictures you put on of your other cars, that's a good collection. I especially like the Transit. I've got a Mk2 County but it's very rusty now unfortunately. Is yours a camper ?

It is a camper now. Before that it was built as a standard van but sent to Ford SVO with a few others to be converted to a high roof and have the windows fitted. Then it was fitted out with loads of radio/recording gear (including a huge old dj mixing desk for the BBC.
As I understand it, most of the Regional BBC studios had at least one of these vans but they weren't used much. They tended to just sit in a garage and get dusted off a few times a year for certain jobs then be put back.
My one was fairly complete after it was retired and still had the mixing desk inside. I sold the desk and all the cabling (both of which weighed an absolute ton!) to a guy in Belgium with his own radio studio. The money I got for it effectively covered the price of the van!
It's unbelievably solid though, never welded and is completely original panels and oily bits. The only upgrade I've made to the 2.0 pinto is to bin the original VV carb in favour of a Weber which has massively improved it's starting and running.
I've got a bit more work to do in the camper bit but if I get my finger out this spring it should be ready to use this year.
