Default coolent

i just buy 2nd hand car = volvo s40 1.9T year 2001.i have been advise to use only volvo parts. but for the coolent, do we need to used original one's?
At my country, the whether is quite hot. can i use other type of coolent??
please advice.

You can use any coolant you choose. The thing I've found with the Volvo stuff is that it has a very good anti-corrosion package built in to it and that's why I've stuck to using it. I used some in my dad's Volvo 144 (he's been using some other product) and flushed it after a month - the amount of "gunk" that came out was unbelievable!! For your climate, its also advisable to use a product like Redline Water Wetter to improve the efficiency of the cooling system. I know several guys close to you who are running between 240-290bhp in their T4s, who use water wetter, and have not had any cooling issues whatsoever.
