Default C/S/V70 T5 4-speed auto gearbox & driveshafts

Howdy folks,

In a bit of a rush...but want to get these things listed. All were taken from a 1998 C70 T5 with 108k on the clock. Everything is in nice condition, and the car drove well. The 'box is unusually fresh for a 4 speed, nowadays.

I have no reference point for price on these items, so let's start at £50 per driveshaft, and £200 for the gearbox, and take it from there. Those are prices off the top of my head, with no research, and are very much open to negotiation.

cheers

James

Hi FoggyJames,

If you still have the gearbox, could you have a look on the tag and let me know the details pls?

My v70 tdi auto box (AW50-42) looks like it's on it's last legs and am wondering if yours would fit?

Cheers,
Rich

Rich try the guys in summerhill in clondalkin. I'll look for the number later and buzz you on the phone.

i got my aw50-42 from them for €150.00 and they had 2/3 on the premises.

You'd be looking at around £80.00 min to get a gearbox shipped across the water

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your message. I think a locally sourced box sounds like a better idea. However...just to humour me...what RPM is your car doing at 70mph? This box (from a petrol T5) results in 2300rpm at 70mph, which is exactly what my (manual) D5 does, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they used the same box for petrol and diesel. Of course if yours is only doing 2000rpm at 70, that theory is clearly wrong!

cheers

James

Hi James,

Thaks for the reply.

I agree a local box would be handier, tbh I wasn't expecting to find one locally though.

Have found one through 95RN850VOLVO, so we'll see how that goes.

Are the drive shafts complete with joints, etc? Are they from the same 108k car?

Ta,

Rich

PS: completely forgot to check RPM/ speed this morning. Will let you know.

The driveshafts are complete, and in excellent condition. Yes, they came from the same car. You might like to check the spline-count, though...there were different versions. I'm not at all sure what the change-over was (model, year, etc?), or even what the difference is, exactly. I believe it's at the hub end, but I'm not sure.

cheers

James

Hi FoggyJames,

Thanks for the notes on the driveshafts. Still need to really come to a decision on whether or not to keep the car.

Out of interest my tdi is turning at approx 2400rpm at 70mph on flat road.
Sounds very simillar to the petrol versions.

CHeers,
Rich
